You’ve never seen a punt return touchdown, or any play really, as chaotic as the one Kahuku (HI) High School’s Stokes Botelho pulled off on Friday.
Botelho, a junior DB, fielded a punt on a bounce at his own 41-yard-line. He ran laterally for a bit and barely made it upfield when he coughed up the ball, which bounced five or so yards in front of him and into a scrum of players, where it was fumbled two more times.
The ball somehow bounced back to Botelho. He nearly tripped upon recovering it, but regained his composure, broke toward the edge and found daylight up the sideline for the touchdown.
