It’s been a weird season for the St. Louis Cardinals. One that involved a 19-day shutdown because of the Covid-19 virus, which infected a good portion of the Cardinals roster. One that involved many seven-inning double headers to get their schedule back on track. And finally, one that saw an uphill battle in the National League Central against a Chicago Cubs team that got off to a hot start.
Despite all of that, St. Louis never gave up, and now they sit in the number two wildcard spot in the National League playoffs (fifth seed). Their first opponent will be an upstart San Diego Padres team.
