The Denver Broncos’ decision to release cornerback A.J. Bouye just one year after acquiring him with a fourth-round pick is just another sign of the disarray that has plagued the organization since winning their third Super Bowl. Bouye featured in only seven games for the Broncos and finished with just 21 tackles and no interceptions. He did miss some time earlier in the season due to some injuries but then picked up a six-game performance-enhancing drug suspension later in the year.
Denver hoped Bouye would rediscover some of the success he had during his 2017 Pro Bowl campaign, but after just one season, they’ve jettisoned him to save roughly $12 million in their salary cap.
