The New York Mets are in second place in the NL East, but they’re 23-28, 9 1/2 games behind the Nationals. Yoenis Cespedes and Noah Syndergaard are both on the disabled list, and things just generally stink for them as we begin June.
In fact the team is so on edge that even Mr. Met is a tinderbox waiting to burst into flame. He’s in no mood for his usual shenanigans and hijinks, that’s for sure.
