Australian Soccer Player Breaks Leg, Tears Ankle And Dislocates Shoulder — Without Touching Anyone

Rough day for Storm Roux of the Central Coast Mariners — he saw his season end abruptly on Sunday when he suffered a laundry list of serious injuries all on one play, and with no other player within 10 yards of him.

Roux, from New Zealand but playing in Australia’s soccer A-League, suffered a broken leg (fibula), torn ankle ligaments and dislocated shoulder when he landed awkwardly while trying to defend a shot. Melbourne City’s Nick Fitzgerald stopped in the middle of the play to rush over to Roux and signal for medics. The game was suspended for 10 minutes as Roux was given oxygen and then carried off on a stretcher.
