Aroldis Chapman Becomes First Player To Be Suspended Under MLB’s Domestic Violence Policy

That is, the first player to be suspended a specific number of games.

You may remember back in October of 2015, when police were called to Aroldis Chapman’s Davie, FL, home by his girlfriend, Cristina Barnea. She claimed that Chapman pushed her and choked her — charges which he denies. But Chapman did admit to breaking a car window and firing mulitple shots from a handgun in his garage. Oof.

The Yankees’ pitcher was today suspended for 30 games by MLB under its new domestic violence policy. He can play in preseason games, but the ban begins on Opening Day of the regular season.
