A UCLA Softball Recruit Tossed a Perfect Game and Lost Because This World is Unjust

UCLA softball recruit and Highland (Palmdale, CA) senior Rachel Garcia tossed a perfect game at the Thousand Oaks softball tournament on Saturday. Her team lost. We are not kidding.

Garcia retired the first 24 Camarillo batters she faced — an astounding 23 of them on strikeouts — yet courtesy of a California high school softball technicality, did not walk away with a win.

The rule states that teams start each extra inning with a runner on second base.
