Ten-year-old Ivan Applin, a Toledo resident and Ohio State fan about to undergo heart surgery on the University of Michigan campus, wanted to cover all bases with his doctor before the procedure.
Applin’s mother Jennifer relayed a heartwarming anecdote to U of M Health Blogs, saying “He asked if the Michigan doctors were going to make his heart love University of Michigan instead of Ohio State.”
The procedure was successful as “Ivan was walking and eating later the same day and able to return home the following morning. He had no incision, stitches or blood transfusion, and will be able to return to normal activities within a few weeks.
