This year, there's a lot to be thankful for...so we at Chat Sports put together this list of the eleven things that make us happy to be sports fans right now:
1: Odell Beckham Jr. and this year's ridiculous NFL highlight reel
Does it seem to you guys like we've had an insane number of stunning NFL highlights this year? Because we definitely have. From Beckham's absurd Spider-Man impression to Gio Bernard's pinball touchdown run to Emmanuel Sanders nearly getting snapped in half, it's been quite a year for jaw-dropping plays.
2: Craig Sager's comeback
We don't just love Craig for his one-of-a-kind fashion sense - he's also one of the most insightful and entertaining sideline reporters in the game. After taking some time off to fight Leukemia, Sager made his TV comeback last week in support of the Coaches vs. Cancer foundation. We can't wait to see him back on TNT broadcasts in the not-too-distant future.
3: Marshawn Lynch press conferences
It's a shame that Beast Mode feels like talking to the media so rarely...when he does, it always feels like a gift.
4: Madison Bumgarner's World Series domination
Sorry, non-Giants fans: When Madison Bumgarner puts on arguably the best World Series pitching performance of all time, he's gonna land on a few best-of lists. All-time great showings like that don't happen often, and we're thankful we got to see one this year.
5: Having Lionel Messi and Neymar on the same team
Remember the World Cup? Wasn't that fun? Arguably the two most exciting players of the tournament - Brazil's Neymar and Argentina's Lionel Messi - are both in excellent form for Barcelona right now. They're doing this kind of stuff on a weekly basis, and if you enjoyed the World Cup, you should really check it out.
6: Those five or six weeks we went without any Johnny Manziel news
That break is over now, but wasn't it just the best?
7: Nick Saban's angry face
Alabama fans and Alabama haters can agree on one thing: it's pretty funny watching Nick Saban turn twelve shades of red and scream unspeakable things at Lane Kiffin.
8: 11-year old hockey prodigy Aito Iguchi
There's no guarantee this kid grows up to be the next Gretzky - a lot can happen between age 11 and age 18 - but based on his two absolutely insane highlight reels (part 1, part 2), it's safe to say the sky is the limit.
9: & 10: the Splash Brothers
Every few years, an NBA team comes along that's just ridiculously fun. The early 2000's Sacramento Kings and the Seven Seconds or Less Phoenix Suns were an absolute blast to watch...and they've officially passed the 'drop whatever you're doing and turn this game on' torch to Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and this Golden State Warriors squad.
11: No more BCS!
We aren't totally sold on these playoff rankings yet, but even a four-team playoff is infinitely better than the old BCS. One part arcane math, one part bias, and two parts pure greed, the BCS was a relic years past its expiration date. Bring on the playoff era!
