HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Marcus Evans matched a career-best with 32 points, including a pair of free throws with three seconds left in overtime to give Rice a 76-74 victory over Southern Mississippi on Thursday night for its fourth-straight win.
Evans was 12 of 19 from the field and made 6 of 9 free throws. Connor Cashaw added 13 points and Max Guercy had three points, nine assists and seven rebounds for the Owls (12-16, 7-8 Conference USA).
Kourtlin Jackson scored 31 points to lead Southern Miss (7-19, 4-11). Khari Price had 12 points and seven assists.
