Nat Borchers was a center back for Real Salt Lake from 2008 to 2014. Following the 2014 season, he was traded to the Portland Timbers. Borchers played in Portland for just 2 seasons, before announcing his retirement after rupturing his left achilles. During Borchers’ time in Salt Lake he scored 10 goals and played in 205 games. For the two years Borchers was in Portland he scored 4 goals and played in 52 games.
It was kind of controversial as to why Borchers ended up in Portland. There was an expansion draft at the end of the 2014 season, and Real Salt Lake had to create a list of 11 players to protect, but Borchers wasn’t on the list.
