Fotu, who has not officially signed with Utah, announced his commitment after being one of the Utes' top in-state prospects who were expected to make their college choices this week. Others in that category whose decisions have yet to be announced include Lone Peak safety Nate Ritchie, Corner Canyon defensive lineman Van Fillinger and Juan Diego defensive lineman Xavier Carlton.
Utah had announced 13 signees, including three returning missionaries, as of 11:30 a.m. The headliner is quarterback Jake Bentley, a graduate transfer from South Carolina. Having started 33 games for a Southeastern Conference program, Bentley immediately becomes a strong contender for the Utes’ QB job in 2020, joining Jason Shelley, Cameron Rising and Drew Lisk in the competition for Tyler Huntley’s vacancy.
