Utah basketball player Donnie Tillman is transferring to UNLV and hopes to be ruled eligible for the 2019-20 season, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Monday.
The move reunites Tillman with former Utah assistant coach DeMarlo Slocum, who joined the UNLV staff of new coach T.J. Otzelberger in April. It also enables him to be closer to his ailing mother, who has lived in Las Vegas for five years. Tillman recently tweeted that his mother’s undisclosed surgical procedure “went well.”
Tillman was named the Pac-12 Sixth Man of the Year as a sophomore in 2018-19, when he averaged 10.
