Flippen will replacing Maggie Livreri, who spent seven seasons with the Utes and is leaving to become the head coach at 2018 Mountain West Conference champions Boise State.
“Today is a great day for the Utes,” Utah softball coach Amy Hogue said in a news release. “We have hired Hannah and I could not be happier for our program. Change is hard and with Maggie leaving to become a head coach, there were big shoes to fill.
Utah’s all-time leader in runs, hits and batting average, Flippen concluded a record-setting career (2014–17) by becoming the first three-time All-American in program history, as well as the first four-time All-Pac−12 honoree.
