Utah's women's basketball team rallied from eight points behind in the last four minutes of regulation Saturday against South Dakota, only to lose 84-81 in overtime at the Huntsman Center.
USD guard Monica Arens forced overtime by making two free throws after being fouled on a drive with 5.1 seconds left.
Junior forward Ola Makurat's 3-pointer had given Utah a 71-69 with 8.5 seconds remaining. Lola Pendande's blocked shot started a fast break for the Utes, who had trailed 69-61 with 3:58 to play.
Pendande led Utah (0-3) with 19 points and nine rebounds. Arens scored 17 points for the Coyotes (4-0), ranked by ESPN as the country's top-ranked mid-major team.
