Days after a University of Utah student was killed by a registered sex offender on parole, Utah Gov. Gary Herbert called for an investigation into the Utah Department of Corrections and said believes the university, too, will examine its police department for “where we may have had some errors and mistakes.”
“We will make sure that we get answers to the questions we have and take whatever necessary corrective actions are required,” he said Thursday during his monthly news conference.
Lauren McCluskey, a 21-year-old senior and track athlete, was killed Monday outside the dorms on campus by a man her family said she had dated for a month.
