Competitors in Utah’s tightest congressional race questioned Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams’ ability to beat Republican U.S. Rep. Mia Love in November, and they pleaded with delegates Saturday at the Utah Democratic Convention to lean left while picking their nominees.
After McAdams spoke first to the party’s progressive caucus, his competitors each lobbed thinly veiled attacks against McAdams, the presumed front-runner.
“We can win this race here in November. We can definitely do it. But we can’t do it with so-called moderate candidates,” said Tom Taylor, who’s running in the 4th Congressional District. “We win on progressive values.
