After months of deliberation and years of angling by city boosters, the United States Olympic Committee has chosen Salt Lake City to bid for a future Olympic Winter Games.
After a day-long Friday meeting, USOC favored Salt Lake City over fellow Rocky Mountain finalist, Denver. The bid’s target, while not specifically confirmed as the 2030 Olympics, had long been labeled a “future Olympic Winter Games."
“The United States is committed to hosting Games that are both remarkable and practical, and we believe that Salt Lake City is the community most capable of delivering against that promise,” said USOC CEO Sarah Hirshland.
