Four children have died from the flu in Utah since October — nearly double the average annual number of pediatric flu deaths for the past decade, health officials confirmed Wednesday.
And with a new wave of the illness, the threat may not subside for weeks.
"We would still encourage people to get a flu shot," said Jenny Johnson, spokeswoman for the Utah Department of Health. "We still have a couple of months left in the flu season ... and the strain can change again. Even if you do get sick with influenza, the chances that it's going to be severe, with the flu shot, are a lot lower.
