Sandy City is advising residents to not drink the water or use it for cooking until they receive confirmation it is safe after the Utah Department of Environmental Quality detected elevated amounts of lead and copper.
Residents in the affected area, from 10600 South to 11400 South and 700 East to 2000 East, had previously been asked to flush their water systems after the DEQ detected the elevated lead and copper amounts in the drinking water in the aftermath of last week’s storm. The storm and the subsequent power outage caused elevated levels of fluoride in the water.
