Sandy • Sam Johnson has been in and out of the starting lineup in recent weeks. He was benched last month for being late to a team meeting, then had his minutes monitored at times due to a lingering knee issue.
But in Saturday’s game against Sporting Kansas City, the Real Salt Lake striker reminded all 18,933 fans at Rio Tinto Stadium why Utah brought him here. Johnson scored two goals and led RSL to a 2-0 win over SKC.
Real scored both goals in the first half and even had a couple of opportunities to add to the lead in the second.
