Federal and state police arrested a Salt Lake City woman Wednesday for allegedly trying to obtain a deadly biological agent — but authorities say there was a never a threat to the public.
Investigators with the Utah Department of Public Safety, the FBI and the U.S. Postal Service started looking into the woman after receiving a tip that she was trying to purchase the biological agent, Utah Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Nick Street said. She was arrested when law enforcement began to believe she had criminal intent.
Throughout the investigation, Street said law enforcement were able to “safely monitor [the woman’s] activity.
