Real Salt Lake’s midfield depth is on the up, with the club announcing today that they’d signed Justin Portillo from Real Monarchs.
Portillo, 26, joined RSL’s second side in 2018, where he became a key cog in the midfield. He has been a near-constant figure in the club’s preseason, rendering his signing not particularly surprising.
In a club-issued release, RSL general manager Craig Waibel said Portillo’s signing is indicative of his taking advantage of the opportunity at Real Monarchs.
“Justin has been impressive in his time with the Monarchs and has earned the opportunity to sign a first team contract.
