Sandy • Joao Plata's stellar start to 2016 is now on pause.
The Real Salt Lake striker suffered a Grade 1 hip flexor/quadriceps strain Wednesday afternoon during a training session at Rio Tinto Stadium, RSL coach Jeff Cassar confirmed Thursday in Sandy. The 24-year-old Ecuadorian was participating in a drill when he suddenly pulled up lame, grabbing at his left thigh. Plata left training grimacing, grasping at his left leg.
"It's probably going to be a 7-to-10 day [timeline]," Cassar told the Tribune. "So not great news, but at the end of the day, he's going to fine.
