Jerry Akaminko, a 27-year-old Ghanaian center back, may have agreed a deal to join Real Salt Lake, if a report from GHANASoccerNet.com is accurate.
That report has yet to be confirmed by RSL Communications. They were able to confirm verbal discussions, however — and this would be a natural next step in the process.
Akaminko has been on trial with Real Salt Lake for the past week, having appeared in last week's friendly against Portland Timbers as well as in the team's match against South Korean club Seongnam FC.
Most notably on the world stage, Akaminko was seriously injured in a pre-2014 World Cup match pitting Ghana against the Netherlands; he broke his ankle and was out of commission for a year before returning for the club he signed for in 2012, Turkish side Eskiu015fehirspor.
