Provo • It appears that assistant basketball coach Heath Schroyer’s second stint at BYU will be a one and done.
Schroyer was on the bench Wednesday night at Stanford as the Cougars fell 86-83 to the Cardinal in the first round of the NIT. He largely was credited with breathing some life into the BYU program after being hired by coach Dave Rose, his longtime friend, last summer.
Schroyer will replace Dave Simmons, who was fired after McNeese State went 11-17 last season.
After his first stint at BYU as an assistant under coach Steve Cleveland, Schroyer went on to become a coach at Portland State, Wyoming and Tennessee Martin.
