Rep. Rob Bishop announced Monday that he will not run for governor, and instead is endorsing former Utah Republican Party Chairman Thomas Wright in that race.
He announced on KSL Radio that at age 68, he feels he is too old to run for another office after a long political career in Congress and the Utah Legislature that began at age 26.
“I don’t need to be governor. I don’t need it to validate my feeling of self worth,” Bishop said on a KSL news program hosted by Lee Lonsberry, who until recently was Bishop’s press secretary.
