Oceanside, Calif. • A familiar face is returning to Real Salt Lake.
The club on Tuesday acquired longtime defender Chris Wingert, who was put on waivers by New York City FC on Jan. 30. The 33-year-old defender spent eight seasons at RSL before being selected by NYCFC in the 2014 MLS Expansion Draft.
During his eight seasons at RSL, Wingert logged nearly 17,000 minutes as one of the staples of the back line. In his one year at NYCFC, Wingert made 26 starts.
