Real Salt Lake: Thunderstorms cause second postponement in franchise history

Houston • Saturday's thunderstorms forced only the second postponement in Real Salt Lake history since the team began play in 2005. The previous occasion was on July 16, 2011, on the road versus the Vancouver Whitecaps, because of drainage problems with a temporary grass field installed for the Canadian side's friendly against English Premier League club Manchester City. The teams did not meet until October 6 — and Vancouver won, 3-0.

Several Dynamo players who live in suburban Houston would have struggled to arrive more than a few minutes before the scheduled start on Saturday because of the tough driving conditions caused by the heavy rain — especially winger Leonel Miranda, whose car was flooded.
