Real Monarchs have completed a deal with Brighton High School graduate Taylor Peay, a 2014 second-round draft pick by Portland Timbers.

Peay, 25, played in only a handful of matches for the Timbers but was reasonably consistent in playing time with Timbers 2.

A graduate of the University of Washington, Peay will have been well-acquainted with RSL general manager Craig Waibel, who was an assistant coach with the Huskies in 2012 and 2013.

In a club-issued press release, Elliott Fall, Real Monarchs general manager, talked about Peay’s addition as being part of a broader roster construction strategy.
