Real Monarchs have apparently added another player to their slightly slim roster, bringing in the 50th pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft, James Moberg.
Moberg, a 21-year-old midfielder, played four years at University of Washington, playing in 69 matches, during which time he scored 10 goals and totaled 21 assists. He also spent time with Portland's U-23 side. In February, he apparently trialled or trained with Seattle Sounders, and before the draft, Sounders fans were pushing for the club to pick him.
The move was unceremoniously announced by Monarchs forward Eti Tavares on Twitter.
Moberg joins a Monarchs side that's a bit light on midfielders, with Alec Sundly, Ricardo Velazco, and Amass Amankona being the only three players listed exclusively in the position.
