HERRIMAN, Utah (Friday, September 4, 2020) – Real Monarchs shut out the Tacoma Defiance 1-0 at Zions Bank Stadium on Friday night to earn the team’s first victory in over a month. A first half goal from midfielder Luis Arriaga was enough to give the Monarchs their fifth-consecutive victory against Tacoma.
The Monarchs started the first forty-five on the front foot, earning eight corners and nine shots. Following a corner in the 12th minute, Monarchs defender Nicolás Giménez saw his header bounce off the crossbar and back into the field of play to spur a Tacoma counter attack that almost resulted in a goal the other way.
