Tulsa, OK (Saturday, July 1, 2017) – Real Monarchs (12-2-1, 37 points) fell 2-0 to the Tulsa Roughnecks at ONEOK Field in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Saturday, ending the USL side’s 10-game unbeaten streak that included a USL-record nine-game winning streak.
Joaquin Rivas scored early in the second half and Ian Svantesson added a late tally as the Roughnecks controlled possession throughout the match. The Monarchs forced six saves out of Tulsa goalkeeper Fabian Cerda and Monarchs GK Lalo Fernandez had seven saves of his own in a back-and-forth affair.
The Monarchs almost took the lead in the 14th minute when a back-post cross by MF Charlie Adams from the left found FW Chandler Hoffman, but Cerda made a great save to keep the Monarchs off the board.
