Latter-day Saints repeatedly were told at General Conference on Saturday that they can change the world and their families best by living — and not just talking about — the gospel of Jesus Christ.
“I am asking that you ‘stand as witnesses’ of the power of the gospel at all times—and when necessary, use words,” said Elder Dieter Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
The theme surfaced often as the 189th Annual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints opened amid a flurry of big changes during President Russell M. Nelson’s 15 months leading the global faith — including reversing just two days ago a policy that had deemed same-sex married couples “apostates” and generally barred their children from baby blessings and baptisms.
