It what may be a first for the Sundance Film Festival, three-fifths of the U.S. Dramatic competition jury at this year’s festival will be black women.
Actors Octavia Spencer and Jada Pinkett Smith and cinematographer Rachel Morrison will be joined on the U.S. Dramatic jury by actor Michael Stuhlbarg and director Joe Swanberg, festival organizers announced Tuesday. People of color also are in the majority on the U.S. Documentary jury and prominent in other juries.
They and six other juries will decide the award winners at Sundance, which starts Thursday night in Park City and runs through Jan.
