Highly recruited running back/linebacker Noah Sewell and his Orem teammates repeatedly kept Timpview from finishing drives until late in the game Friday night as the Tigers claimed the Class 5A state championship with a 21-7 victory at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
Sewell’s 47-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter gave Orem a 14-0 lead, after he had fumbled at the goal line on the Tigers’ last drive of the third period.
Timpview’s Sione Moa ran for a touchdown with 2:02 remaining, then the Thunderbirds recovered an onside kick and drove inside the 10-yard line, but were denied on fourth down.
