Provo • BYU survived its first test as the No. 1-ranked women’s volleyball team in the country Thursday night at sold-out Smith Fieldhouse, sweeping No. 24 Utah 3-0 after a slow start.
The rivalry match drew a record crowd for a women’s volleyball match at Smith Fieldhouse, 5,472.
BYU improved to 9-0 with the win, and is now 71-30 all-time against the Utes. Utah dropped to 7-3.
Dani Barton Drews led Utah with 11 kills, but the Utes hit just .167 in falling for the second-straight time to BYU.
