A man with gunshot wound to his torso made his way to the lobby of a West Valley City hotel early Tuesday morning, police said.
West Valley City police Sgt. Levi Lloyd said officers believe the man was shot about 4:15 a.m. in a hotel room at La Quinta Inn, 3500 S. 2200 West, according to a news conference that was broadcast live by KUTV.
The middle-aged man was taken by ambulance to the hospital in critical condition, he said. No employees at the hotel were injured.

No one was in the room where the man was allegedly shot by the time police arrived, and they did not immediately find the firearm used in the shooting, Lloyd said.
