Have members of Congress not learned: That ammunition from an assault weapon travels at a speed of 3,000 feet per second. That bullets are structured so that when they enter the human body they ricochet, turning every organ they strike into jelly and exit the body with a wound the size of an orange. That most victims receive multiple wounds. Do they not imagine the shredding of tissue that occurs to the bodies of small children and young people in schools, or of adults enjoying a social outing? First responders know. Surgeons know. Morticians know. Soldiers of battle know.
