Letter: A spot near the Capitol is perfect for a megawatt-size solar installation

The cost of solar in all of its varieties is low and heading down. Canopy/carport-type structures are becoming popular and affordable because they provide other amenities along with pollution-free electricity. Have you ever tried to rally between the Capitol and Third North in blazing heat or a storm? That area could be used to install a megawatt-size solar installation.

Traditionalists would surely cringe, but that’s all the more reason to be first out of the gate with something this dramatic and futuristic. (There’s also abundant acreage/asphalt out back for those Republicans who like to brag, but never really want to be seen leading on anything meaningful.
