This weekend, Real Salt Lake took a break from MLS duty. While a collection of players were making an appearance for the Monarchs in their USL opener against Saint Louis FC, two others were called up for international duty.
Demar Phillips played 77 minutes for Jamaica as they drew 1-1 with Costa Rica in a World Cup Qualifying match. Red Bulls' Kemar Lawrence played the full game at left-back, grabbing an assist, which allowed Phillips to play in a more attacking role on the left wing. With Burrito Martinez missing for the trip to Kansas City next weekend, Phillips may have shown Jeff Cassar that he can be an option out wide after returning from a one-match suspension.
