I-84 reopened in northern Utah after fire-caused closure

Interstate 84 has reopened in Box Elder County after a wildfire there forced it to close Friday

The fire, known as the Goring Fire, had burned 15,000 acres as of Saturday morning and was 20 percent contained. About 32 miles of I-84 was closed between Tremonton and Snowville near the Idaho border, but the stretch reopened about 4 a.m., fire officials reported.

The fire was burning through dry grasses and was threatening rangeland, grain crops and some ranching structures, fire officials reported; it isn't clear whether they are still in danger. There were no evacuations.

Although I-84 is open, visibility is low because of smoke, and fire officials urge motorists to travel cautiously.
