A Draper fire battalion chief is in critical condition after a car lost control and struck him as he attempted to help another crashed motorist Thursday night on southbound Interstate 15.
Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Nick Street said the battalion chief was on the left shoulder when the car hit him and pinned him against the other vehicle. The interstate’s southbound lanes were closed near 14600 South for a medical helicopter to land and take the chief for treatment.
Draper spokeswoman Maridene Alexander did not release the battalion chief’s name because his family members haven’t all been notified.
