"We all have suffered a trauma here, and we're going to be a long time in recovering from this incident," Santa Rosa Mayor Chris Coursey told reporters.
Ten of the victims found in Sonoma County have been identified, the sheriff said Thursday night. Two were confirmed through medical devices or implants, two through dental records, another by a distinctive tattoo, while others were matched with fingerprints or visuals and other investigative means.
Most were from Santa Rosa, and all were older adults, with an average age of 75, the sheriff's office said.
