Herriman • It normally spells trouble when a team hits just one basket in the final 10 minutes of a game.
But that’s exactly what the Copper Hills girls’ basketball team did Tuesday as it earned a 35-33 victory over Herriman and with it the Region 3 championship.
“It’s a tough way, but it’s the best way,” Grizzlies coach Kent Smith said. “These are the types of games you find yourself in at the state tournament where every possession is magnified and when defense carries the day. If I had the choice between winning this game with defense or winning it with offense, I’d rather win it with defense.
