The West Coast Conference recognized the significant accomplishments Monday by naming BYU junior guards TJ Haws and Brenna Chase its men’s and women’s players of the week, respectively. It is the first time Haws and Chase have earned the weekly honor.
Haws averaged 24 points, 7.5 assists and 1.5 steals while shooting 44.8 percent from the field, 37.5 percent from 3-point range and 95 percent from the free-throw line for the week.
“As a staff, we challenged TJ the last couple of days, that for us to be where we want, he needs to be more aggressive,” coach Dave Rose told the BYU sports network after Haws scored a career-high 35 points in the 88-82 overtime win over San Diego last Thursday.
