Provo • Much has been made already in BYU preseason training camp about the Cougars’ inexperience at receiver. After all, 2016 pass-catching leaders Nick Kurtz, Mitchell Juergens and Colby Pearson all ran out of eligibility.
People tend to forget, however, that at the beginning of last season freshman Aleva Hifo got as many opportunities as the three departed seniors. But after catching four passes for 26 yards and returning two kickoffs for 64 yards against West Virginia in the fourth game, Hifo saw his playing time drastically reduced.
“There were times in games where I had miscommunication with the quarterback,” Hifo said Wednesday.
