A Riverton man is dead after the latest officer-involved shooting. It’s the sixth police shooting in less than two weeks.

Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that left one man dead in Riverton on Monday morning.

Two officers responded to a report of domestic violence at a home near 1400 West and Stone Ridge Lane at about 6:40 a.m. According to Salt Lake County Sheriff Rosie Rivera, a man was holding a knife to the throat of a woman when he was shot by police officers.

“They took some action. Shots were fired. And we do know that the male is deceased,” Rivera said.

The man who was shot and the woman he was threatening are family members, she said; the woman lives at the home and the man did not.
