Desiree Scott and the Canada National Team got off to a fast start in their opening match of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, defeating Cameroon 1-0 behind a goal from centerback Kadeisha Buchanan.
As the anchor of the midfield, Scott played the full 90 minutes for Canada, earning her 144th cap. Scott played a vital role in maintaining constant pressure on the Cameronian side, in turn preserving her title as “the Destroyer.”
Despite holding a majority of the pressure and several shots on goal, the scoreline reflected an evenly matched game for most of the first half.
