On Sunday, Real Salt Lake defender Tony Beltran announced that he would retire at the end of the 2019 season. Since being drafted third overall in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft, he has spent his entire professional career with RSL, logging 245 career regular season appearances. A two-time MLS All-Star, Beltran helped RSL reach finals in the 2009 and 2013 MLS Cup, 2011 CONCACAF Champions League and 2013 U.S. Open Cup, winning ultimate glory with the 2009 MLS Cup title. In addition, he earned three caps with the U.S. National Team after also playing for his country at the U-18, U-20 and U-23 levels.
